Whether you are going to work, working from home, developing websites, or just looking for a quick, solid browser that can help you quickly access the Internet, the free Opera web browser delivers a superior Internet experience for every aspect of your online life, with lots of extra tech tools for power users. You might have got experience with many internet browsers like Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc. But as a user, I found handful of features in Opera over other existing browsers. Common features and add-ons are available plenty, but Opera is the one with in-built tools makes browsing more enjoyable and productive. Of course, Opera is faster, safer and full-featured alternative to any browser and it is the one-stop-shop for internet access. Opera delivers robust security and far-richer feature set than any other web browser. Most of the users agrees that Opera is good, but I like some of the features and constantly using for my daily browsing practice.
Opera is the web pioneer that delivered tabbed browsing in 2000, and Opera 9.2 features lots of other great tricks for quick navigation, including SpeedDial, a quick way to put all of your favorite daily sites at your fingertips. You can also take, save and trade Notes attached to any website while browsing, or create search shortcuts from any search field on the web.
Opera’s rendering engine (called Presto) sports a high level of support for CSS - this is illustrated by the correct rendiring of the Acid 2 test in Opera 9 - and a large range of other standards (e.g (X)HTML,XSLT, WML ,SVG). With Opera 9 this even includes intial support for Webforms 2.
Opera is also available on devices ranging from mobile phones too. What is important is that Opera’s core is shared among all all products, across all platforms and devices. This is possible due to Opera’s ERA, which allows to display webpages on display on any size, from computer screens to TV’s and mobile phones. You can even test how a web page is going to look on a device, simply with a desktop version of the browser.
My favorite features are:
Speed Dial™
It is an easy way to access our favorite websites. Just open a new tab to get your Speed Dial. It’s easy to populate and addictive to use. Find out what other people are putting on their Speed Dial. I use it mainly to set Yahoo Finance Pages for online Stock Charts.
Thumbnail preview
It is easy to have many tabs open at once in Opera. But exactly which tab had that video you wanted? Hover your mouse on any tab to see a thumbnail preview.
Site preferences
Want to view a site in a different way or deny certain cookies? Want to block pop-ups on certain sites only? Right click and select “Edit site preferences”.
Duplicate this tab
You can make duplicate of a tab easily by right-clicking the mouse on the tab and select ‘Duplicate’.
Page Reload feature
Reload can be set by keeping the time interval from 5 seconds to 30 minutes or any custom interval to be set on the context menu. If you require a periodic refresh for web pages this is the right tool for you.
