Create high resolution screenshots with Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop CS Classroom in a Book

It was always a problem for me to get screenshots with high resolution. Therefore, most of the screenshots I used in the previous posts are with 72 dpi resolution. Ofcourse, it is little tricky to to get good quality images with the help of any screen-capture software. Here I have tried Photoshop to get high quality output from screen-captured images by simple steps. You can do the same steps and get perfect and sharp screenshots at a higher dpi. Open your Photoshop software first and try this.

Capture the screen:

To make a screenshot, hold CTRL and press the ‘print screen’ button on your keyword (for PC users). To capture the e active window alone, press CTRL, ALT, and then ‘print screen’ button. The captured image will be available in clipboard.

Create New File in Photoshop:

Create a New file from the menu bar or press CTRL-N to make a new document in Photoshop. It shows a window similar to which is given below. The default the resolution is 72 dpi. Change the value to your required pixels/inch. I typed 300 for my purpose and if you need you can change the value and then file name, width, height, color mode etc.

Paste in Photoshop:

Now you can paste the image which is already in your clipboard. Photoshop will automatically size the document to the screen capture. Press CTRL and V buttons together to paste your screen captured image on the NEW file window.

Save the File:

Use ‘Save As” to save the file in any image format (bmp, jpg, gif, tif, png etc.) for your purpose.

Compare the images given below, which are captured and processed with default resolution and enhanced one.
